Growing Cannabis: What Are The Flower Growing Stages?

Cannabis flowers become beautiful during the flowering stages and soon move on to the next stages of growth. 

The flower growing stages of cannabis plants contain three stages early flowering, mid-flowering, and late flowering which lasts between 8 to 11 weeks in time. 

Those who grow cannabis plants consistently know the time they begin flowering and prepare around this time. 

For those who aren’t too sure about the cannabis flowering stages, we will guide you on what the flowering stages are for you to get prepared. 

What Are The Cannabis Flowering Stages? 

Cannabis goes through several cycles during the growth period and flowering is a part of it. 

The flowering stages entail the following: 

1. Early flowering: At this point, the cannabis plants are doubling in size by stretching and the preflowers are starting to bloom with white pistils cascading around. 
2. Mid-flowering: During this period, the cannabis buds are growing thicker and the leaves are darkening in color. The cannabis plant is at the 4 to 5-week flowering phase. 
3. Late-flowering: The plants are reaching the 6-week flowering phase and showing signs of harvesting. The buds are sticky, very large, smell potent, and are covered in white trichomes. You can tell the rich terpenes associated with the cannabis plant you grew. 

During the end of the harvesting cannabis plants require more attention and a series of procedures, from trimming to drying and curing, to ensure you get quality buds.

What Length Of Time Should Cannabis Be In The Flowering Stage? 

Cannabis plants should flower as early as 6 weeks and as late as 8 or 9 weeks, depending on the strain you’re growing.

Sativa plants may require a longer flowering cycle and it’s best to identify what strain you’re growing and how it grows. 

Several plants grow differently from one another and require different needs during their entire growth cycle. 

How Much To Water My Cannabis During The Flower Growing Stages? 

You can water your plants every 3 to 4 days as a general rule of thumb during the flowering stages. You can also check the soil by placing your finger 10 centimeters in to see if it’s wet or not. If it’s wet, then you can water the next day or until the soil isn’t wet. 

Cannabis plants do necessarily need a lot of water during the flowering stages and you should take precautions in not overwatering at this time. 

Should You Give Cannabis Plants More Light During The Flower Growing Stages? 

Yes. If you’re growing cannabis plants indoors, they need a 12/12 light cycle to continue the flower-growing stages.

For those growing plants outdoors, the plants will automatically begin to flower when the days become longer around summertime. 

All cannabis plants have different growing times and may flower sooner depending on their environment. 

The flower growing stages aren’t very long and allow growers to get ready for harvesting.
