We’ll give you insight on when to harvest autoflowers throughout our brief guide for you to receive bountiful buds.
Cannabis plants are grown everywhere, especially autoflowers. Autoflowers are easy to grow and give you faster yields year-round.
When growing autoflowers, it’s best to harvest when the pistils start turning brown, red, or orange, and some of the trichomes appear amber-brown under a magnifying glass.
By knowing the time autoflowers are getting ready to harvest, you can get prepared to extract their beautiful buds.
When To Harvest Autoflower?
You need to look at the pistils to see if they change to red, brown, or orange and identify if some or most of the trichomes are amber. The pistils and trichomes are good indicators of when to harvest autoflowers.
If your cannabis plants aren’t revealing these two signs, you may need to wait to harvest them. They may need more time to grow during their lifecycle since not all autoflower plants have a short growth period. Some may have a longer growth cycle and it’s best to keep an eye on their growth process.
What’s The Longest Time You Can Let Autoflowers Grow?
You can let autoflowers grow up to 15 weeks in time with the exception if they’re ripe enough for harvesting. Some plants are ready within 8 to 10 weeks and need to be harvested at these time frames.
When harvesting autos, you need to monitor the color of their trichomes and pistils. You can wait until all or most trichomes are amber color and the same goes for pistils.
Many growers may wait at different periods to see how much THC they can get from their cycle. Others may want to wait until the last minute to harvest to receive a higher content of CBD and CBN.
It depends on what you’re wanting out of your cannabis plants to see how long you want them to grow.
Is It Possible To Harvest Autoflowers Early?
You can harvest autos too early if you’re not monitoring them closely. If you harvest early, your plants won’t reach their peak of THC and may give lower-quality flowers.
You also need to avoid harvesting autos too late as well. If you harvest late, your autoflowers can have higher contents of CBD rather than THC. When this happens, cannabis flowers produce sedative sensations.
Some may want the high CBD content to avoid receiving the psychoactive effects of THC, but it’s not highly sought after.
What Amount Can You Get From Autoflowers During Harvest?
During harvest, you can get about 10 to 50 grams per plant when growing indoors. They may yield larger quantities of about 150 to 175 grams if grown outdoors under direct sunlight.
Autoflowers grow fast and are shorter to grow. For this reason, they may not yield a lot of buds when growing indoors. If you’re growing for the first time, autos are the best way to start growing cannabis. The low yield may not pose an issue for new growers learning the ropes of growing weed.
